Bye Bye - Mariah Carey

I swear this is the worst news I've heard all week, yes it is up there tied neck and neck with Michael Jackson's death. Vibe Magazine, THE Vibe Magazine started by Quincy Jones in 1993, has folded. Kaput. Gone Under. Finito. Back in March 2009, Vibe Magazine got rid of one of its offspring publications Vibe Vixen as well as cut back the days of their employees to four days a week. The magazine announced today that it has gone under and according to Daily Finance it is indeed because of financial woes. From my understanding Vibe Magazine is to cease publication immediately and if that is the case the current issue with Eminem on the cover will be the magazine's last. No say on if it will do like Blender (who folded print publication in March) and turn their web site into a news/blog. This is the first I have heard of a major influential magazine going under. With the recent changes in the journalism field, mostly with more people getting their news from online sources, many print companies (especially newspapers) have been effected heavily by this. What does this mean? At the rate newspapers/magazines are shutting down it's only a matter of time before we will be limited to a very small selection of print publications.
