Basketball - Kurtis Blow

Back in 1989 the Detroit Pistons won the NBA championship and when they did it again in 1990 they were so affectionately called the Bad Boys (kinda unfortunate they didn't win again until 2004, but that's neither here or there). If you read my blog from the beginning (which was only what April?) then you should remember the May 1 post about up and coming streetwear brand Fli Pelican and their uber limited edition Amber Rose t-shirt for the pink and black Air Yeezy release. Well the Pelicans are at it again and have come up with one of the dopest, vintage inspired t-shirt: Motor City Misfits. A shirt paying homage to the original Bad Boys, the photo was leaked yesterday.

But that's not all the Pelicans are doing. My homie Juan (he handles the online operations and such at Fli Pelican) told me that the Pelicans are doing a 5-on-5 charity basketball tournament August 1, 2009 . There are going to be 8 teams in this tourney. I'm not sure if all 8 team spots are filled yet, but I DO know that it is for a good cause. There is a $5 coverage for anyone attending and portion of the money is going to Karmanos Cancer Institute. Food, Music, Basketball, Dope People? Who doesn't want to go? It's scheduled to take place at the Dearborn Performing Arts Center, but you all know I will keep you posted throughout it all.
