Still Fl(i) - Big Tymers

The much anticipated Black/Pink Air Yeezy's (for the uber non-hip ones that don't know, it's the Nike/Kanye West collab sneaker) make their micro-debut May 2nd. While you are stepping your shoe game up, why not up the rest of your gear, too. Up-and-coming streetwear brand Fli Pelican is releasing a -very- limited edition t-shirt this Saturday inspired by the woman in Kanye's life -Amber Rose. Fli Pelican leaked a photo of the shirt on their blog on April 29th.
The Pelicans also leaked a video yesterday featuring everyone's favorite blogger Cliff Skighwalker and a better look of the t-shirt. O, and if you didn't catch on that is Aaron Reid - L.A. Reid and Pebbles' son who is most familiar from his Super Sweet Sixteen appearance- modeling the shirt.

There's no doubt in my mind that the Pelicans are about to blow up in 2009. But what exactly is Fli Pelican all about?

Quick-terview with: a Pelican.

Alex Washington(AW): What's the meaning behind the name?

Chelcea S.(CS): Well to break things down FLI stands for Finding Love Inside and the Pelican represent selflessness

AW: What makes Fli Pelican different from other streetwear brands?

CS: What makes us different from other streetwear brands is that we're a family, not to say that other brands dont share a bond. But we have a team of individuals from Memphis, Detroit, Atlanta and New York that are not just about fashion and music but helping the community as well. Each month the Pelicans volunteer in their community be it at soup kitchens, the Final Four that just happened in Detroit, or just cleaning up their local community. Without our community Fli Pelican wouldn't have the huge buzz that it has now, so we want to make sure we give back to the community in anyway we can.

AW: What's next for Fli Pelican?

CS: We have a release in St. Louis at the sneaker boutique SNKY where we will be releasing the spring line as well as the limited edition Fli Pelican Air Yeezy Tee Shirt that can only be purchased at SNKY in St. Louis and Burn Rubber in Royal Oak, MI. [and Leaders in Chicago] Fli Pelican also has a big summer ahead of them with events being planned in Memphis, Detroit, Chicago, New York and Atlanta. The Fli Pelican Music Group has our first artist who goes by the name Early Mac, of Finally Famous and Fli Pelican has the knowledge in the music industry, so we look to take his career very far.

AW: Where do you see the brand in 5 years?

CS: In 5 years, I see Fli Pelican as not only a streetwear line but one of THE premiere clothing lines worldwide. We look to be an all around company that caters to the entertainment and fashion industry.
