The Dude - Chuck Good

Chuck Good is back again with another edition of the Red Cup Session.
The hip-hop party and showcase has been going strong for over a year now and kicking off the year is the Red Cup New Year's Edition.

I got the chance to attend the last one (and even wrote about it for RDW), and while Chuck #fries me on the regular to the point I'm sometimes scared to believe anything he says, I really admire the work he has put in.

While the Red Cup sessions have been deemed "high school" by some, it's actually a pretty good showcasing of what younger, aspiring artists are capable of. When the sessions first started, the crowd was made up of about a hundred people, now more than 400 people have been to them and it's expected to keep getting larger.

The Red Cup New Year's Session will be at The Shelter (the basement of St. Andrew's Hall) on January 7th. If you're in high school, it's hte perfect way to destress one more time before classes relaly kick your behind and if you're in college it's a great way to come, kickback, and show support.

Some of the performers include Buzz Burrus, Chip$, GBaby, Jsun, Key Wane, Big Shan, Chuck Good (of course) and more.

The event will be hosted by Lawrence Lamont and the DJ for the evening will be the awesome Ro Spit.

Music Video: This is For Us - JFin

The homie JFin was sitting quiet for lil' while after the release of 2009's Fin Is King 2.

Keyword: Was.

Earlier this month he released Paid Programming, a pre-tape and lyrical teaser for his upcoming mixtape Infinivision.

This week he dropped the music video for "This is for Us" (from my understanding it is his first music video).

Directed by Richard Taylor and features cameos by Yung GooD, Buzz Burrus and Chuck Good.

Yay or Nay: All the Right Moves - Buzz Burrus

There are different parts to Detroit hip-hop, granted it's all spectacular and great music to vibe to, but I'm noticing that different sectors do different things. There are different styles, their influences sound different and the what they choose to release are most definitely ... different. But different in a good way, I couldn't imagine being in a place that had one unified sound and that's what makes Detroit what it is. I say this with a point, this next Yay or Nay comes from Buzz Burrus, he's a part of the Baby Detroit movement (check the post on Chuck Good to know what that is) and the song he chose to drop lines over isn't another rap song, it's by One Republic, continuing with this different in a good way thing.
What do you think about it? Yay or Nay: All the Right Moves - Buzz Burrus.

Yay or Nay: S.H.E. - Buzz Burrus

Sometime around the end of summer, I posted a video of then 17-year-old Buzz Burrus spittin' over Kanye and Big Sean's "Glenwood." Since then Buzz has been making quite the buzz around Detroit for himself. The now 18-year-old high school senior has been seen performing at events around the city like the Red Cup Session or maybe at the Cyper Show at Bob's Classic Kicks and this weekend he will take the stage to help Chip Tha Ripper, P.L., Ro Spit and others celebrate DJ Bunny's birthday. Buzz recently released this track from his upcoming project 'You Can't be Serious.' Yay or Nay: S.H.E. - Buzz Burrus
